Love this!
Here’s my Last.fm stats for 2012! Post yours in the replies!
And a happy new year to each one of you :)
This is amazing! It’s me by @uchihalion! Thanks you!
Don’t you just love the goatie? Following her now!
HA! Just had to share this.
Are you talking about something like the ‘links’ in my sidebar? Like the Linux, Music, etc etc?
Well I used the default ‘Pages’ for that. It is a standard feature of most themes. If your theme does not have that, all you need to do is add a botton/hyperlink somewhere and direct it to “www.<yourtumblr>.com/tagged/<somekeyword>” and then just add that tags to any post you would like to see on that page.
For eg, I feature all Music posts on my blog and the link is www.yeahitsray.tumblr.com/tagged/music and every new music post is tagged with ‘music’ If you want a wider category try a tag like ‘personal’ or ‘mystuff’.
So, now that Instagram Web Profiles have been around for a while, the folks over at Instagram have released Badges - you know, the ones just like the ‘follow me on twitter’ or ‘find me on Facebook’ or a simple Like Button.
So now, you can finally add a badge to advertise/showcase your Instagram Web Profile out here on your Tumblr, or even on some other blogs/websites.
Here’s how it looks:

Pretty neat huh?
So, how do you add one to your Tumblr?
Simple.
(As with all my posts - please BACKUP your theme before you do any changes. It’s always a good habit.)
-
You need to have an Instagram account and your webprofile should be ready. I guess they’ve rolled them out to all users by now, but if not, you won’t have to wait too long.
You’ll need your URL - it should look something like this - http://instagram.com/yeahitsray - Head over to http://instagram.com/accounts/badges/ and login.
- Now, select the type of Badge that you want. These are the options available at the time of writing this post:
- After selecting, you’ll get some code - copy the entire thing (just to make sure that you get the entire thing, just click anywhere on the code, and hit <CTRL>+<A> - that will select the entire thing for sure)
- And now comes the important part - getting this on your blog:
This can be described for two types of people:
a) If you don’t mess around with your theme too much, then you should just head to ‘Customize’ and add this in your ‘Description’. Like this:
b) For people who do mess around, this will be a bit easier I guess - just go to that section of your theme in ‘Edit HTML’ where you want the button to go - and drop the code in there. The button should appear when you apply changes and you are good to go.
Cool huh? Anyways, let me know if you face any issues at all. And you can always post a comment here or send me a message.
Have a nice day!

| — | I just removed a lot of my extra ‘fun’ code and widgets and my tumblr now loads at least 5-6 times faster! So does that mean that I don’t use any widgets/code? Of course I do. But they’re mostly Google or Disqus code. So in conclusion, if you know for sure that the place from where you get your widgets have servers fast enough to avoid killing your Tumblr, don’t use them! |
